I love Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re going out with the girls, headed on a date with your husband or staying in with the kids, it never hurts to get a little dressed up for the ones you love. My favorite way to style my hair is with soft romantic curls which is perfect for this holiday! I’m spilling my secrets on the step-by-step process on how to create waves in minutes.
Make sure hair is completely dry
To minimize damage, dry hair entirely before beginning to style. Right after I wash my hair, I spray It’s a 10 Leave-In Conditioner and a heat protectant cream so I don’t fry my hair during styling. I prefer to air dry overnight, but blow drying works great too!
Section your hair
I take my hair into three layers. I take the bottom layer out first and tie up the rest. Then, I section it out in two-inch pieces for bigger curls.
Start curling
I’ve used many curling irons over the years, but the Beachwaver is my absolute favorite for creating soft romantic curls. It takes me half the time as a normal styling tool since it is an automatic wand. I begin by wrapping a section of hair around the barrel and leave the ends out to avoid as much damage as possible. Curl away from the face, hold for 5-8 seconds and then pull straight down. Continue on each section and layer until each piece is styled.
Finish it off
The key to this hairstyle is product! I fell in love with the Kristen Ess Beach Wave Spray last year and I will never go back. It creates soft natural looking waves instead of drying out my ends like other salt sprays I’ve used in the past. It also doubles as a hairspray and gives the hair a hold without being too stiff. Then, i put a quarter-sized amount of moroccan oil on my fingertips and run it through my ends to loosen up the curls and I’m done!
This is one of my easiest hairstyles and the soft romantic curls never fail to impress. Pair this style with a cute dress or a blouse with jeans and it’s the perfect Valentine’s Day look! If you enjoyed this tutorial, you can read more like this on my blog or Instagram. Happy Valentine’s Day!
