I really wanted to come up with a way to recognize Christ during this season. So I created this nativity graphic. I made a few free printable coloring pages including this nativity page. And to top it off I created this canvas nativity banner Christmas DIY. Instructions are below.
” For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Materials Needed
Printed Template (In Printables)
Canvas
Canvas
Cloth Scissors
Transfer Paper
Scissors
Suede cord (Thanks Consumer Crafts!)
Thread
Iron
Printer
Here’s how to do it:
1. Print design on iron transfer paper
Cut designs out carefully
2. Cut canvas banner to size preference
Iron the wrinkles out of canvas
3. Place designs ink-down on canvas
Set iron to cotton setting
Place iron over transfer paper, press carefully from 15-20 seconds
While still warm, peel back waxy paper from design
4. Loop suede cord, depending on desired length of tassel
Snip end of cord, pinch top of tassel, wrap additional cord around top of tassel, tie off
Snip bottom loops to finish off the tassel
Couple tips:
First of all please read all the instructions here and on the iron on transfer instructions first.
To purchase your transfer paper you can find it at JoAnn (be sure to use their 40% coupon). Purchase the 20 sheet count.
Once you have removed the plastic backing for the iron-on do not place your iron on the cut out piece. The ink will get on your iron and make a mess. For this reason I suggest doing a practice piece on a practice piece of fabric.
Also it helps to lay out the cut out pieces on the canvas before ironing.
And… there yah go!You can print the coloring pages here. I hope you all are enjoying your Christmas season. It goes so fast. So I hope you are savoring it. Merry Christmas.
