FELT CHRISTMAS TREE FOR KIDS

Make this cute felt Christmas tree that your children can decorate and redecorate over and over again. It’s a fun variation from the standard felt tree that hangs on your wall. I also added some fun variations to a standard Christmas tree like wooden stars and felt oranges for a fun whimsical twist. Check out this tutorial on how to make this felt Christmas tree for kids!

instructions

  1. Start by warming up your hot glue gun.
  2. From there you will want to cut your white felt to match your tree or the desired shape. You will notice my tree has a slight decline to the top. So I cut my felt accordingly.
  3. Now that you have cut your large pieces of white felt lay your tree down and start glueing the felt to the tree. Start at the bottom making sure the felt will line up appropriately and trim the excess.
  4. Now it’s time to make the pieces. Below is pictured some of the pieces I made. And here are the instructions and some ideas for you.
    1. Oranges – Cut a circle. You may want to trace a cup with a light colored or orange marker on the felt as a guide if you don’t want to eye-ball the circle. Then cut a much smaller circle with the orange yellow. Then to make the inside pieces of the orange cut the small circle into pieces like a pie. Glue onto the large circle.
    2. Star – Cut the brown felt into five strips about 8 inches long. Arrange them into a star. Glue at overlapping points including the center.
    3. Candy cane – Cut out a candy cane by either tracing an actual candy cane or free handing it. Use the red felt. For the stripes cut thin rectangles of the white. Then cut those rectangles into smaller rectangles as pictured below. Glue onto the red candy canes.
    4. Leaves– cut a few leaves from the green felt.

I’m so happy with how this felt tree turned out! You can get this tree and tons of other Christmas crafts at Oriental Trading. I love ordering from them for my children, but sometimes I enjoy their products more than my kids! And if you are looking for an awesome treat be sure to try Graeters Ice Cream (as pictured above). Our family has fallen in love with this stuff since it tastes creamy and there are loads of holiday flavors as well! We love it so much you can use “canary-sweets” for $5 off.

I hope you’re having a wonderful December so far and you have the chance to spend time with your loved ones amidst all the craziness of holidays. If you make your own felt tree, feel free to send me a picture, I’d love to see how it turns out!other awesome canary jane posts
